Literature Text

I'm like an open book, in a way:
My covers are not padlocked;
It only takes a curious reader
To open them up,
And find out what's inside.

But, once my covers have been opened,
Most find it to be a waste of time:
Some pages have been torn,
Others have been burned.
There are blots of ink and blood
Covering the important parts of the plot.
There are intentional holes drilled
In the chapter entitled "Memories",
And tears have stained and blurred the words
Under the chapter entitled "Relationships".

It would take a scholar
To decipher this record,
But once one does,
They find that it is an impossible read to put down,
And one they cherish for all time.
Wrote this while thinking about how I work. Fascinating way of expression.

I hope that scholar finds you... I hope he/she understands and cherishes the words you have put into that book. I hope your story doesn't end, that those pages are full and not left blank. Every story is different, the Author choosing what they want the reader to see. Some stories are long, some are short. Each one a unique read... Each one deserving a place on the shelf. Don't let your story end with a blank page.

I wish I could read your story, that way I'd have another reason to do what I do. A reason to live this life. But just knowing the condition of your pages may be just enough, to make me keep going.
